Gairloch Gardens


Meeting place: Gairloch Gardens parking lot (free on Sundays)

Directions to Gairloch Park: Exit Ford Drive from QEW or 403 Highway. Go south, turn right on Lakeshore Rd, the park is on the left side

We are planning to visit Gairloch Gardens, Navy Park (a.k.a. Lakeside Park) and Old Oakville.

Gairloch Gardens

The Gairloch Gardens is a lovely park on the shores of Lake Ontario. You may wish to come early to catch the sunrise!

Photo Opportunities: lake views, the pond and reflections (as per Zakrison Theme Competition), some early spring bloom.

Navy Park

Directions to Navy Park from Gairloch Gardens: Turn left on Lakeshore Rd, drive to Allen, turn left at the stop light, turn right at Robinson, continue to Navy Street and turn left.  Parking available on adjacent streets for free.

Photo opportunities: Historical buildings – former Custom House 1856, presently a museum, lake views, the Pier, marina (probably no boats yet), people, early spring bloom. Also look for the White Church, an impressive building at King and Reynolds.

Downtown Oakville

Directions to downtown Oakville: About a 10 minutes walk north along George Street, leads to the centre of the city of Oakville.

Photo opportunities: architecture, Knox Church, street photography, the Old Clock, etc.


If there is sufficient interest, we can meet at Starbucks, downtown Oakville, North side of Lakeshore Road.
