Tonight’s speaker is Will Prentice, with his presentation “The Light and Shadow of Portraits”.
These two 30-minute sessions cover Will’s approach to portraiture, beginning (as always) with your subject. Will covers the do’s and don’ts of working with other people and some posing tips. In the second session, Will shares how to light for every face and every body. Creating flattering portraits is more than just using great gear; it’s knowing how to use that gear to produce the results you need.
A portrait and commercial photographer for over 25 years, Will Prentice is a contributing writer for PHOTONews magazine, host of PHOTONewsTV, owner of Captura Photography+Imaging and Brand Manager – Lighting for Amplis Foto. Will’s ability to connect with his portrait subjects and deftly master the light shone upon them creates flattering and memorable portraits.
Will has spent much of the last 15 years teaching photographers of all skill levels how to improve their craft – how to light better, how to get the right expressions and how to make people feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
When he’s not behind the camera or in front of a class, you’ll find Will outdoors in any weather – usually on one of his bikes.
