This SIG is intended for members who are new photographers and would like a crash course on the basics. The sessions will be led by long time member, Robert Shechter.

- Camera basics; the importance of backing up images
- The process of taking a picture
- The photography triangle: aperture, shutter speed, ISO
- Exposure compensation
- Formats: JPG and RAW
- Exposure modes: Matrix, Centre Weight and Spot metering
- Camera modes: Aperture priority, Shutter speed priority, Manual
- White balance, Reading a histogram
- Field of view; types of lenses
- Concept of depth of field
- Image and quality of light
- Composition basics: what to include/exclude in your image
- Macro photography basics

Sessions will be held on four consecutive Thursdays: March 10, 17, 24, 31 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm
Location
These sessions will be held in Robert’s studio @ 29 Artreeva Drive, Thornhill, Ontario
Cost
$25 to be paid at first class by cash or cheque
