Bio:
Dr. Ron Goodlin has had a remarkable, if not unusual photographic journey. During his youth, he developed a love for nature and photography in Ontario’s near north. He followed this up by graduating from the New York Institute of Photography. At that point, Ron’s journey took a different path as he enrolled in the University of Toronto to pursue a degree in Cosmetic Dentistry. While there, he also went on to become a world-wide expert in medical/dental photography.
During his dental career, Ron kept up his photography by operating a sideline photography business as well as continually upgrading his skills with courses from the Humber College photography diploma program.
Over time, he gave up his studio photography business and after slowing down his Dental Career, Ron would come full circle, back to his roots for his love of nature and animals, and over the years, Dr. Ron Goodlin has achieved recognition as one of the foremost Canadian nature and wildlife conservation photographers.
Ron has won many photographic awards, has had several one man and group shows, has authored several photo books (available on Blurb.com), is an active photography tour leader, and a sought after speaker on Wildlife photography and nature conservancy.
Working with organizations such as Nikon Canada, WWF, the David Suzuki Foundation as well as the Oceanites research group in Antarctica, Ron now spends most of his time travelling the world to document wildlife that is in danger of extinction from the perils of mankind.
Now, with his latest evolution, Ron has switched from stills to doing more video. And, with this evening’s presentation, you will see his first efforts in documentary filmmaking.
Ron is an active member of the Richmond Hill Camera Club, and is an OCCC and CAPA photography judge. You can see his work at www.rgphotoart.com.
