Freeman Patterson Competition Results

The results of the Freeman Patterson competition were announced at the club meeting on October 17, 2023.

The Freeman Patterson Trophy was established in 1978 by the club in recognition of contributions to our club by Freeman Patterson, a Past President and Honorary Life member of the club.  The trophy is awarded annually to the single highest scoring image in the photographer’s choice of subject matter.  The only restriction being, no zoology subjects are allowed.

This year, 26 members entered a total of 101 images. Participation came from six novice, three intermediate and 17 advanced division members. As a comparison, last year there were a total of 124 images by 31 participants. Participation was lower than in previous years. We look forward to seeing an increase in the number of members participating in this competition next year. Remember, the Photographer’s Choice competition allows members a great deal of latitude in which images they wish to enter, as it is a chance to compete with images from almost every possible genre (aside from zoology).

Thank you to all participants!

Here are this year’s winners…

In the Novice Division, the Winner was Marlene Duhig with her image “Faded Beauty” (shown to the left). Runner Up was Manny Goncalves and an Honourable Mention goes to Vera Gillman.

The Intermediate & Advanced Divisions were combined. The Winner and overall Trophy Winner was Roger Correia with his image “Intertwined” (shown to the left). The Runner Up was also Roger Correia, with Honourable Mentions going to: Ann Alimi, Lidia Brandes, Anthony Schatzky, Larry Durst, Jordan Cait, Luba Citrin and Rachel Schneiderman.
